The 5 crafts

The Pacific Crest Garrison recognizes that every recruit brings their own unique set of interests and aptitudes into their service. For this reason, we offer basic training in 5 different crafts, and encourage recruits to extend their work into the craft (or crafts) they feel an affinity for.

Arming

Buiding safe, effective, and well-made boffer weapons.

Armory

Buiding sturdy, light, and well-fitting armor, appropriate for use in boffer combat.

Skills

Understanding of all basic parries and attacks for each of the various weapon types we utilize. Training the body to execute these maneuvers quickly, accurately, and under the right conditions. Developing an intuition for timing and maintaining proper distance.

Tactics

Learning to read your opponent and to lead them into providing openings for attacks. Learning the advantages and disadvantages of the various classes of arms and armor, and understanding the conditions under which they are best put to use.

Chivalry

Being respectful and considerate, and acting as a teacher and role model. Looking for and appreciating avenues in which to grow -- both as warriors and as members of the community. Control of the ego, facilitating service to the garrison and its neighbors.
